TRC
TRC stands for 'The Revolution Continues'. With a name that makes such a bold and ambitious statement, you'd be forgiven for thinking that TRC were recruiting for their own private army...though with an album as strong as this one, they will soon have legions on their doorstep.
'Bright Lights' is in equal parts an album made for pit annihilation and for the avid listener. Each spin reveals new twist and turns, and new lyrical gems to either laugh or cry at.
Deftly crafted songs hit with the impact of a sledgehammer. This is pure UK Hardcore - except what sets this record apart from the pack is the lyrical depth from the two pronged vocal attack.
This album captures TRC's terrifying live presence perfectly. You can almost feel the aggression eminating out of the speakers- though where many albums lose their clout from 40 minutes of relentless bludgeoning, 'Bright Lights' does not. Dynamics flow thick and fast, with just the right balance of wry humour ('Define Cocky/Blame It On Vegas') and honesty ('Temptation') to ensure that the band are not lumped in with the meathead hardcore bands who base their whole sound on machismo and breakdowns.
TRC are a one off, never to be imitated or replicated. Fusing pure hostility and aggression via a backbone firmly rooted in Hardcore, the band add their own twist of pure British swagger.
The Revolution must Continue. TRC are here, and they are about to take over the world.
Recorded 2011 at Broadfield Studios, Hertfordshire by Steve Sears and Thomas Mitchener.
